Global Goblins
OBAKE creates an interactive space for a non-verbal communication based on abstract objects, symbols and music. The shadow of the participants’ hand is used as an interface to the computer, which is generating virtual puppets and sound. A computer vision system detects the hand of the participants. The program will analyze the gesture and displays abstract objects, extending the outline of the hand. The computer-generated graphical object will follow the movements of the participant’s hand and both behavior and appearance will change continuously. Approaching another object will start an abstract communication between these objects. In the process of exchange of information, the objects will mutually affect their internal behavior, thus changing their “character” and appearance.
